Our experience and insight to help you get “Back on Track”

Whatever your age or experience, we’ll give you the help you need.

At Body Back-Up, we can help you review your exercise programme in the light of your personal goals, making your stretches more effective and improving performance or reducing injury time-outs.

Speeding up your recovery and estimating how soon you should be able to return to your sport. So you can achieve full recovery in minimum time, as well as discover ways of protecting against future injury.

Who is the Total-Body Check for?

  • Sports people who want to enhance their performance and reduce injury.
  • Active retirees to help them get the most out of life.
  • Tri-athletes, who need all-round flexibility and balance.

Your Body Back-Up  Management plan

Step 1:  Consultation & Case History

  • Detect any training areas that you need to work on.
  • Increase your flexibility, strength, balance and power.
  • Enhance the quality of your warm ups & warm downs.
  • Help you to make the most of Rest Days.
  • Helping you plan better for your exercise goals.

Step 2:  3D – Biomechanical Squat Test & Lunge Assessment tools

Balance & Co-ordination Video

Squatting when done with controlled parameters can inform how your strength & flexibility flow so that blocks in this flow can be spotted and action taken.

From the upper body to the lower body.

The lower limbs upwards into the upper body, torso & arms.

Using your own telephone-in-built camera we provide a video to show your asymmetries & imbalances.

You can view this later to see what corrections are needed/

This will also help monitor any corrections & modifications to your remedial exercises.

Step 3:  Hands on Care incorporating Functional Active Release (FAR)

  • We use a combination of appropriate manipulation and a range of soft tissue muscular techniques.
  • Hands on dynamic focal release of chronically shortened and ischaemic muscle – postural muscles as well as those that has been contracted due to past injury.
  • Ability for patients to keep control of any discomfort during treatment whilst regaining awareness of body joint and muscular function.
  • Reducing the risk of damage to tissues during treatment whilst allowing deep stretch and keeping the patient communicating with the practitioner throughout treatment steps.
 Benefits to the patient:
  • Re-learning function patterns – after injury.
  • Re-education muscle groups – after disuse.
  • Re-integration of  joint and muscle function after joint surgery.
  • Reduce Psychological helplessness by fully incorporating patients with their treatment session.
  • Feedback during treatment helps guide and make treatment individual and effective in the quickest time.

Step 4:  We provide tailored advice to minimize risk of future injury:

  • Modify your warming-up routine
  • Cooling-down routine
  • Cross training
  • Choosing your sports shoes
  • Orthotic insoles & shoe cushions
  • Lifestyle outside of training

Sports Care Patient  Testimonials

This year I determined to run a half-marathon. I trained conscientiously, but as my distances increased so did a pain, which started out as a niggle in my ankle, until it affected my whole leg. A week before the Big Day I had to stop running altogether and so I missed my target and was bitterly disappointed.

After an enforced rest period of a few weeks I started anew with my sights on another local half-marathon, but this time, fearing a repeat of what happened before. I went to see Robin.

He soon found the cause of my problem. It wasn’t my leg, it was my back! In that first session he treated my back and taught me exercises to do at home. I even found I could touch my toes – the first time for many months. I left my appointment feeling optimistic and very pleased. The next day I started my training regime, and to my delight found that not only could I run without a twinge in my leg, but that I could go faster and further!

One more session with Robin consolidated my previous treatment and not long after that the half-marathon day arrived. I’m pleased to report that not only did I get round with no pain, but I finished having done a personal best. Thank you Robin!

“I was training for the Windsor Half Marathon, and picked up an injury in my foot, which left me hobbling around work, and not able to train. It was in fact extremely painful. I visited Karen, and after one session, walked out of the surgery, started training again and completed the Half Marathon” “All the best.”
