Karen Neil is a specialist pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). She has been a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) for many years, training and working in hospital and community pharmacy and then research and teaching in physiology and pharmacology, public health, and health promotion. She offers Lifestyle Medicine and Health Coaching at Body Back-Up.
Aware of the impact of stress and anxiety on health, she trained as a mindfulness practitioner and teacher, exploring work in mindfulness-based stress reduction, and has taught mindfulness and health promotion workshops and courses in a variety of settings over the last decade.
In 2020, she was named Global Health and Pharma (GHP) Award Winner: Most Innovative Health and Wellbeing Education Specialist (Midlands)
As a writer and researcher, she has published diverse work in molecular pharmacology, safe prescribing, over-the counter medicines use in children, child protection, mental health, disease management, self-care, autism, and mindfulness. She is the co-author of Disease Management, published by Pharmaceutical Press.
She is an active member and trustee of the Institute of Health Promotion and Education Trustee (IHPE), a volunteer and supporter of the Nottingham-based charity Music for Everyone (MfE), and a keen educator with a focus on empowering people to be the best they can be.
